Community
The best part about being successful is that you’re in a position to help others. It’s why we get involved with the IT community where ever we can, and support charities we really believe in. Here are some examples.
-
Oxfam - Give a Goat
Every year, instead of gifting swag that our clients don’t need or want, we show our appreciation with Oxfam gifts. It means we get to give twice, letting our clients know they’re important to us, while also supplying things like fresh water or a vital food or business source for a struggling village. We reckon that beats a branded stationary set or an umbrella any day.
Oxfam New Zealand is part of a global organisation dedicated to helping poor communities. They believe in the power of people to change the world and are helping to address the root causes of inequality and injustice. Check them out here: http://www.oxfamunwrapped.org.nz/shopping.asp -
New Zealand Computer Society
The New Zealand IT industry has come of age in recent years and the resurgence of the NZCS as an industry group is testament to that. They work to promote education and up-skilling in the IT industry, from users to professionals – something that we’re passionate about.
We’ve sponsored a series of breakfast events during 2011 for C Level professionals to get together, listen to some thought provoking ideas and build their networks. Held every two months, they’re a chance for us to support collaboration and community in the industry, which will benefit everyone. RPNYC - Gucci
We’re not quite ready to buy our own corporate yacht, but we still get a fair amount of time on the water. Working with Brent and Deb, we’ve helped equip their yacht Gucci, so they could stay ahead of the fleet. Aside from the feeling of goodwill, we also get to enjoy some sailing with our clients and staff. Not a bad exchange, all in all. Look for the bright red spinnaker on Wellington Harbour or out in Cook Strait.
